Never Hired a Career Coach? Here's What We Do and How We Help

Many of us, especially if we’re in nonprofit, educational, or government roles, have never been encouraged to seek out career coaching.

In case you’re one of those people who has never hired a coach, here’s why you should consider the investment.

If you’re feeling stuck, under-appreciated, challenged with confidence issues, or hard-to-understand barriers to advancement, career coaching could probably benefit you.

If you’re new to a leadership role or to a caregiving role with new work-life balancing needs, you could also benefit.

People who work with coaches report improvements in

·       Confidence

·       Commitment to and awareness of how to achieve their goals

·       Overall sense of empowerment at work.

People hire career coaches for many reasons.

Sometimes it’s seeking out that next big job, promotion or raise.

And sometimes it’s collaborating to create empowerment, facilitating a shift or acquiring a new set of skills, such as:

  • increased capacity to use your voice to navigate your current situation

  • helping you align your day-to-day work environment to your values and priorities

  • achieving a shift in your priorities towards boundary seting and work-life balance

  • developing specific leadership skills

  • gaining skills in job-seeking

  • learning to amplify the value you bring and your leadership presence

  • positioning yourself for opportunities to contribute to high-impact projects at work to facilitate your growth

In my career coaching work, I’ve touched every point on the timeline of career journeys, and helped people work through the challenges and opportunities of each situation:

from recent college graduates looking for work or navigating their first professional position,

to mothers seeking work-life balance,

to people seeking a promotion

to new-to-role leaders learning to navigate their role

to people planning for a transition to retirement.

In the words of people I have helped with career transitions, here are the kinds of results you can achieve from my coaching:

"I was fortunate to work with Jodi during the early stages of a recent career transition. She helped me to recognize my strengths and explore new options and opportunities at a time where I was unsure as to what my next steps should be. Jodi had valuable insight into what the job search process would entail and helped me to view myself as an employee in a new field.”

The Unlocking Your Leadership Potential course and group coaching experience, "provided me with the confidence to counter the raise that I was offered, and resulted in my obtaining a higher raise."

"Jodi’s services have been so very valuable for my professional development! She has helped me to gain clarity and direction with my career goals. Her process guided me to identify my values and skills and recognize my worth, allowing me to build confidence and trust in my interests and decisions. She has broadened my perspective generally as well as with specific work situations, helping me to find solutions and to build resources and support."

"Jodi has done so much for my work in a variety of capacities: she mentored me in my new leadership roles at my institution, provided me guidance as I strategized new career goals, and more. As a consultant, Jodi draws upon the treasure trove of her experiences and knowledge and is generous with her time and insight when helping her clients work through their own challenges."
